Blu Wireless secures £6 million growth debt facility from Salica Investments to accelerate global expansion

Bristol, UK – 06/01/26– Blu Wireless, the Bristol-based leader in mmWave wireless communication systems for high-speed transport and defence customers, has secured a £6 million growth debt facility from Salica Investments, the UK investment firm known for backing high-growth technology companies. The funding provides Blu Wireless with strong working-capital foundations while supporting the company’s rapid international expansion.

Salica’s Growth Debt Fund—designed specifically for scale-ups with significant technological differentiation—selected Blu Wireless for its patented mmWave technology, experienced leadership team, and growing global deployments across the UK, US and Europe.

Anthony Murray, CEO of Blu Wireless, said: “This funding marks an important milestone for Blu Wireless. Securing high-quality debt at this stage demonstrates the strength of our technology, our commercial traction, and the calibre of our team. It allows us to scale confidently, and we are delighted to be working with Salica”

The facility enhances Blu Wireless’ financial resilience and supports its ongoing expansion across international high-speed transport & defence markets. This ensures the company can progress its Product roadmap and deploying its game-changing technology at scale to our customers.

For its high-speed transport customers, Blu Wireless’ Lightning delivers high-speed wireless connectivity — the kind that can download an HD series episode in 5–10 seconds, even while the train is travelling at full speed. It’s the level of performance people expect at home but made possible in places where traditional solutions typically fail. At the same time, operators can offload large volumes of data in real time, enabling applications such as live CCTV access, operational monitoring and improved safety. Because the Blu Wireless solution uses the unlicensed 60 GHz band of radio spectrum, there are no expensive licences or ongoing data charges to operate in this band which means customers can deploy quickly and cost-effectively while still getting secure, high-bandwidth performance. The company’s technology is already deployed with Caltrain in the US, rolling out across South Western Railway in the UK, and gaining traction across defence and mobility programmes worldwide.

For its defence customers, Blu Wireless provides a very high-bandwidth, low-probability-of-intercept/low-probability-of-detection (LPI/LPD) mesh enabled data pipe which is almost impossible to detect or jam. This gives frontline users a secure, high-capacity data link that significantly enhances situational awareness, mission effectiveness and survivability and has use cases across other sectors where secure and reliable communication systems are critical.

Usman Ali, Partner in Growth Debt Fund at Salica Investments, said “Blu Wireless is a perfect example of the UK’s ability to lead in advanced technology and IP-driven innovation. Their world-class mmWave platform, built in Bristol, led by an experienced management team is now poised to transform global connectivity. We’re excited to support their ambition and help accelerate this next chapter of growth.”
