Our Leadership Team
Alan Jones,
CEOAlan is an accomplished executive with over 25 years’ experience in the technology industry. Experienced in solving company challenges both from a technology and business perspective using skills and experience from working at large multinational communications companies and start-ups from inception to acquisition. Alan was also a founding member and executive of IPWireless, as well as co-founder and CEO of Virtuosys, pioneers in Edge Computing. He has also held senior engineering roles at Hewlett Packard Labs and Motorola.
Henry Nurser,
CBDOStarting out by designing memory products for Mitsubishi Electric in Japan, Henry’s commercial and technical acumen has seen him develop deep expertise across the wireless industry. Henry has worked on everything from advanced process R&D to directing a Business Unit at STMicroelectronics. As well as advancing Blu Wireless’s commercial strategy, Henry is also Non-Executive Director at INCA. In his free time, Henry is the founding member of a Bristol amateur football team and enjoys attending World and European cup tournaments.
Mark Barrett,
CMOMark has been engaged in the definition, design, development, deployment of over a dozen SoCs. Applications of his work include high-volume telecoms for British Telecom, Digital Beamforming for Satellite Communications for the European Space Agency and in-car multimedia optical fibre networks for Mercedes Benz. He now leads the adoption of new industry applications for mmWave at Blu Wireless. Outside of work, Mark has played the bass guitar in multiple rock bands for over 40 years.
Ray McConnell,
CTORay’s specialist deep architectural knowledge of optimised embedded parallel processing and applications and his entrepreneurial drive have seen him found four technology businesses including Blu Wireless. He has served at board level and taken several high-growth companies through to IPO. As CTO, Ray leads our technical teams to deliver world-class technology for next-generation wireless applications.
Jon Oates,
CFOWith a degree in Economics and Accounting Jon has worked with tech companies for the past 16 years. From semiconductors to cellular communications companies, he has played an integral part in their business growth and in the delivery of key strategic objectives. In his spare time Jon is attempting to keep up with his children in their sporting activities, as well as growing a wide variety of flowers and vegetables on his allotment.
Dave Purle,
SVP Software and SystemsDave has over 20 years’ experience within wireless systems, encompassing research, customer-focused design consultancy, product development, technical leadership and management. Dave has consistently enabled team success across many programmes and companies, working with multi-disciplinary teams from the West Coast of the US, Europe and Asia. When he’s not at the office, Dave enjoys relaxing on the waves or coastal paths of North Cornwall.
Davide Sarta,
SVP EngineeringDavide has over 25 years’ experience in the semiconductor industry. He has successfully developed more than 10 SoC products to mass production for different markets including AI and mmWave. Prior to Blu Wireless, Davide spent 17 years at STMicroelectronics in management, digital design, verification and architecture leadership roles and was Senior Director at Imagination Technologies. In his spare time, Davide is a running and rowing enthusiast, from races to half marathons.
Yves Nicoue,
VP Front End DesignYves has worked in the semiconductor industry for 25 years in multiple application areas ranging from set-top boxes and aerospace to fixed-line telephony and mmWave. Thoroughly acquainted to all aspects of FPGA and chip design, Yves is capable of building front-end design teams and state-of-the-art flows. Outside of work, Yves enjoys listening to jazz and blues and he plays both double bass and bass guitar.
Jonathan Rogers,
Director of Systems and PlatformsJonathan has nearly 30 years’ experience in the electronics and wireless industry. He has worked in the aerospace sector and as a consultant to a Dutch basestation manufacturer, before leading platforms and RF systems teams in the small cell 3G and 4G access point semiconductor sector. At Blu Wireless he heads up the Systems and Platforms team. Outside of work Jonathan enjoys growing fresh fruit and vegetables, eating and drinking, running, cycling and water-skiing.
Rosalynne Watt,
Director of Product ManagementWith a technical background to PhD level in applied optics, Rosalynne is an accomplished individual. Having spent the last 6 years at Dyson focusing on commercial strategy and product management, she is excited to bring 5G mmWave technology to the market. With the wide variety of applications enabled by Blu Wireless’s mmWave equipment, Rosalynne is interested in pushing the boundaries of how we live. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, spin class and swimming.
Andy Morris,
Director of Customer Engineering and ApplicationsAndy has worked for over 20 years in the telecoms industry and his experience extends across the supply chain, from silicon vendor to network operator. Following his early career at Motorola Semiconductors in Hong Kong, Andy has facilitated volume chip sales for silicon design companies across the UK in the Infrastructure, Small Cell and SIM domains. Beyond his work at Blu Wireless, Andy has a keen interest in travel and international cuisine.
Steve Jones,
Director of ImplementationSteve has worked in the semiconductor industry for over 25 years on a range of design, implementation, EDA and project management roles. On joining Blu Wireless, he helped to deliver our first silicon product, discovering that the calibre of team, coupled with the freedom to innovate, provides a motivating and inspiring work environment. In his free time, Steve enjoys playing the piano and arranging music, and recently co-founded a choir which supports people suffering with memory loss.
Russell Wayman,
Director of SoftwareRussell has over 25 years’ experience in the semiconductor industry with inmos, STMicroelectronics, Linaro and Blu Wireless. In a management capacity, Russell has led teams to create, deliver and maintain innovative software products supporting silicon chip devices designed for multiple application areas. He now heads up the Blu Wireless software team. Outside of work, Russell has appeared in many theatrical productions in Dublin, Bristol and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
