Our Leadership Team

  • Alan Jones,
    CEO

    Alan is an accomplished executive with over 25 years’ experience in the technology industry. Experienced in solving company challenges both from a technology and business perspective using skills and experience from working at large multinational communications companies and start-ups from inception to acquisition. Alan was also a founding member and executive of IPWireless, as well as co-founder and CEO of Virtuosys, pioneers in Edge Computing. He has also held senior engineering roles at Hewlett Packard Labs and Motorola.

  • Mark Barrett,
    Chief Commercial Officer

    Mark has been engaged in the definition, design, development, deployment of over a dozen SoCs. Applications of his work include high-volume telecoms for British Telecom, Digital Beamforming for Satellite Communications for the European Space Agency and in-car multimedia optical fibre networks for Mercedes Benz. He now leads the adoption of new industry applications for mmWave at Blu Wireless. Outside of work, Mark has played the bass guitar in multiple rock bands for over 40 years.

  • Jon Oates,
    Chief Financial Officer

    With a degree in Economics and Accounting Jon has worked with tech companies for the past 16 years. From semiconductors to cellular communications companies, he has played an integral part in their business growth and in the delivery of key strategic objectives. In his spare time Jon is attempting to keep up with his children in their sporting activities, as well as growing a wide variety of flowers and vegetables on his allotment.

  • Ciara Barron,
    Director of Marketing

    Ciara is an experienced, hard-working and creative marketer. With an extensive and varied background in the fast-paced creative agency arena working across FMCG, Financial, Charity, Healthcare and University sectors and now the world of deep tech at Blu Wireless. Responsible for the international growth of the brand profile and marketing communications at Blu Wireless, leading and supporting a team who ensure the success of that pursuit. In her spare time, Ciara teaches a weekly Hatha Yoga class, runs surf and yoga wellbeing retreats, plays guitar and sings.

  • Macy Summers,
    President Blu Wireless Inc. USA

    Macy has an extensive technical background with 30+ years’ experience in Information Technology for government and commercial applications. Having held senior positions at Scientific-Atlanta, Pegasus Communications and Lockheed Martin, he is an accomplished Development Executive with achievements in business development, and innovation. Over his career he has won several awards and patents, including Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of The Year in 2012 and a 2011 Edison Award for Best New Product. When not at work Macy enjoys golfing, CrossFit, and guitar.

  • Dave Purle,
    Chief Operating Officer

    Dave has over 20 years’ experience within wireless systems, encompassing research, customer-focused design consultancy, product development, technical leadership and management. Dave has consistently enabled team success across many programmes and companies, working with multi-disciplinary teams from the West Coast of the US, Europe and Asia. When he’s not at the office, Dave enjoys relaxing on the waves or coastal paths of North Cornwall.

  • David Callaghan,
    Director of Production & Operations

    David is a Chartered Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers with 28 years’ experience in the industry. He’s spent the previous 25 years with Hewlett-Packard, initially as a Design Engineer and then moved into Supply Chain roles, leading HP’s manufacturing operations for part of their storage product portfolio. He’s lived in Japan, Austria and Hungary, leading teams together with contract manufacturing partners, developing and manufacturing industry leading complex electro-mechanical products. At Blu Wireless, David is looking forwards to growing and building a world class Production and Operations team, taking our quality products into volume manufacturing. In his free time, David is a keen badminton player, loves cycling and is a self-confessed tree hugger with a particular interest in transport sustainability and environmental matters.

  • Darren McNamara,
    Director of Technology Development

    Darren has over 20 years’ experience in international research, development, and standardisation of WiFi, cellular, and military communication systems. He has a broad background spanning innovative technical design, leading multi-disciplinary development and project delivery teams, and the creation of customer solutions and proposals. Outside of work, Darren enjoys sailing and running.

  • Simon Pearcey,
    Director of Software Engineering

    Simon is an experienced senior leader with over 30 years of Telecommunications expertise across a wide range of software disciplines. He started his career with Marconi’s Research Centre, while more recent roles include VP Engineering for Zeeta Networks, and head of UK R&D for Amdoc’s Open Network Division, which included product line leadership across a global team. Along the way Simon has worked for A&T, Lucent Technologies, Cisco (twice), and successful start-ups including Aethos, IPWireless and Ubiquisys. Simon has a successful track record of building high performance teams, fostering innovation and delivering products into commercial acceptance. Simon is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys rock and mountain climbing, mountain biking and is a qualified British cycling coach, working with a local youth cycling club.

  • Russ Francis,
    Director of Programme Management

    As Project and Program Lead Russ has delivered dozens of technology-oriented projects with global system-on-chip semiconductor vendors and equipment manufacturers, largely in the field of communications, imaging and multi-media. He provides leadership in multi-disciplinary and program level environments and revels in today’s mix of system solutions, application, software and hardware. Russ loves the outdoors and enjoys time spent on a bike or walking either by the coast or in the hills and mountains. He also flies gliders where he both instructs novices and undertakes long distance cross country flights.

  • Jonathan Rogers

    Jonathan Rogers,
    Director of Systems and Platforms

    Jonathan has nearly 30 years’ experience in the electronics and wireless industry. He has worked in the aerospace sector and as a consultant to a Dutch basestation manufacturer, before leading platforms and RF systems teams in the small cell 3G and 4G access point semiconductor sector. At Blu Wireless he heads up the Systems and Platforms team. Outside of work Jonathan enjoys growing fresh fruit and vegetables, eating and drinking, running, cycling and water-skiing.

  • Peter Legg,
    Director of System Architecture Engineering

    Peter is a wireless telecommunications specialist with over 25 years of experience, primarily in cellular communications R&D and 3GPP Standardisation. He leads the Systems Architecture team where he has architected the High Speed Transport and Mesh products. Peter has over 40 patents in the domain. Outside work he enjoys cross-country skiing, cycling, running and hiking. He is an environmentalist and keen gardener.
