About the Role

Based in our office in central Bristol, the core purpose of this role is to support the IT infrastructure and provide first level support to our team of engineers and operational staff.

You’ll be required to provide support to a wide range of users.  This will include:

  • The physical set up, provisioning and maintenance of:
    • Servers running Rocky and Ubuntu Linux
    • Infrastructure services e.g. DNS, NTP, DHCP
    • Networking equipment – Meraki and Cisco
    • Corporate firewall and VPN for remote access
    • Microsoft 365 services
    • Local AD and Azure
    • Laptops/Windows operating system and integration with above services
    • Disk storage management
    • Backup environment including server, client and cloud
    • Cloud service administration – Atlassian, Cognidox, SAML integrations
  • Troubleshooting
  • Management of asset tracking/procedure,
  • Physical infrastructure maintenance – lab racking, cabling and other infrastructure
  • Daily health checks and backup reviews.

Once confident with the environment, you will be involved in project work including compliance with various security certifications, documentation reviews and contributing to the department knowledge base.

There will be occasional need for you to work outside normal working hours.  You will receive training and development as you will be involved in every area of IT Infrastructure, with many opportunities to learn from experienced people.

About You

Your Technical Abilities:

  • You will be either a graduate with an IT degree or you’ll be qualified by experience with about two years in an IT admin or support role.
  • You’ll have a basic understanding of LAN networking, and you will have been exposed to Linus.
  • You will have experience of at least two of the following:
    • Linux/UNIX
    • Windows
    • Active Directory
    • Microsoft 365
    • Firewalls

  • Willing to learn and get involved in all aspects of IT support.
  • Helpful demeanour and positive communicator.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Calm under pressure.
